News and News (Events)

News and News (Events)
Define when the news item shall appear and disapear from the website

News are similar to Articles in that they can display a Heading, Ingress, Text (in different paragraphs) with or without pictures and can also include documents (such as PDF, Images and/or Powerpoint slides) for the user to download.

At the bottom of the News item the Editor can decide if it is possible for the visitor to leave a comment or recommend the page on their Facebook or Twitter accounts.

News are category based and can therefore appear on many menu locations.

The Webmaster can decide that news items shall be displayed as "Complete" or as a "List", and how many shall appear. The list of "Read more" articles to the right shows a List form (of Articles), and by clicking on the Heading you are reading the text viewed as "Complete".

In addition to the standard fields Heading, Ingress, Content and picture fields, the News can also have an unlimited number of paragraphs. Each paragraph has a heading that does not need to be displayed, content and can have pictures and/or documents (e.g a PDF file)

If there are several paragraph a list of the paragraphs can automatically be displayed and also a "Go to top" link after each paragraph.

The news can be displayed in a Newsletter or shown as RSS. If this is possible is determined by the Webmaster when she defines the categories.

If the Webmaster has defined a News Archive module, the Editor can decide in which Archive category the news shall appear (when the "Remove on this date" is reached.)

When the News are displayed on the Website they are sorted automatically according to the "Display date":

  • News are sorted with the most "recent" news first:

    - 15. February
    - 13. February
    - 11. February

  • News (Events) are used to show information about up-coming events and are therefore sorted with "first" event (News) at the top of the list:

    - 11. February
    - 13. February
    - 15. February

For News (Events), it would make sense to define that the event on the 11. February is removed on the 12. February - and then the event on the 13th would be at the top of the list.
